It is our great pleasure to congratulate you on having been accepted to our master's programme at 91ÊÓƵ (LiU). You will soon know that you have made the right decision in choosing our programme.

Indeed, almost all students that have completed our education are now employed by private companies or state agencies (mostly in Europe) or have PhD positions at various universities.

Prior to your arrival, there are a few important activities and dates to keep in mind:

Roll call and programme start

Our programme is scheduled for two years, and the first course that you need to attend is “732A60 Advanced Academic Studies“. There will be a mandatory roll call for admitted students on 25 August 10.15-12.00 in , C building. You must attend in person - on campus - to confirm your place on the programme. If failing to attend, you will lose your place. Find out more about mandatory roll calls here.

The studies at the programme cover in depth both theoretical and practical aspects of different models and methods, which require a good understanding of mathematics, statistics and programming. If you are not up-to-date in these subjects, you are highly recommended to refresh your knowledge before coming to the programme. In addition, courses in statistical methods and advanced R programming are offered to you in order to broaden your knowledge in these fields.

The studies at the programme are divided into autumn and spring semesters, and the teaching periods for different courses in autumn 2025 are specified on this page:

Please note the following exam and lecture-free periods during the autumn semester 2025:

  • lecture-free period December 20, 2025 – January 11, 2026.
  • re-exam period for the first half of the autumn semester: January 5-9, 2026.
  • ordinary exam period for the second half of the autumn semester: January 12-17, 2026.

The autumn semester will start on August 25, 2025 and the spring semester will start on 19th of January 2026.

Conditionally admitted students

If you are conditionally admitted you must upload your degree certificate and transcript of your last semester(s) both in original language and with an English translation to your account as soon as possible.

If you want to decline your offer

While we really want all of our admitted students to choose Linköping University, it can happen that you decide to attend elsewhere. If this is the case it is very important that you let us know you won’t be attending the programme as soon as possible, by declining your offer at universityadmissions.se. You do this by logging into your account and following the instructions under the 'Applications' tab. This might free up your place to someone on the waiting list.

Residing in Sweden

Students who are not citizens from Sweden or the EU/EEA are required to pay their tuition fees by 15 May 2025 to commence studies at LiU. This is also the recommended deadline for applying for a resident permit from the Swedish Migration Agency (Migrationsverket). Until you are sure you can reside and study in Sweden, we advise students not to book any non-refundable travel.

Questions?

LiU will be sending out an email series to all students admitted to an international programme at LiU in the lead up to the autumn semester with details about accommodation, tuition fees, scholarships, residence permits and other important steps to consider if you are an international student. The Admitted students page is also a hub of information. Swedish students may find Antagen more relevant.

You are always welcome to contact the programme director Bertil Wegmann if you have any questions related to the programme or your studies here. For concerns on practical matters such as the welcome period, accommodation, visa and insurance issues please contact LiU's International Office.

We look forward to meeting you in August!
