Aliaksei Kazlou

Associate Professor

My research focuses on immigrant entrepreneurship, establishment of immigrants on labour market, policy changes and contextual influence on organisational change.

Presentation

I am currently doing research on immigrant entrepreneurship and employment of immigrants in different industries. My major streams of research are: contextual influences on entrepreneurship, organisational dynamics (entry, exit, and growth of new organizations) and influence of Meso- and Macro level factors on entrepreneurial activities, regional entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial finance.

I am the author of peer-reviewed articles, books, and reports on these or related topics. Practical and policy implication of this research are derived in the form of case studies and articles for public debate.

I am actively reviewing articles for such journals as Small Business Economics, Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, International Migration, Technological Forecasting and Social Change Journal, International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behaviour and Research Journal of Enterprising Communities: People and Places in the Global Economy.

Digital Presence

Research

My research spans over several interconnected fields: entrepreneurship, international business, industrial relations, and ethnic diversity, with a strong focus on immigrant entrepreneurship and labor market dynamics. I explore how immigrants navigate entrepreneurial ecosystems and achieve economic integration, examining the role of social capital, diversity, and policy changes. My work delves into industrial relations, investigating trade unions' evolving attitudes toward immigrant workers, as well as the effects of institutional frameworks on organizational change. I also study public entrepreneurship and sustainable innovation, particularly in the context of international business strategies.

Teaching

I am course responsible and teaching courses such as Entrepreneurship and Business Development, International Business, Strategy and International Management, and Business Analytics. My pedagogical approach integrates Challenge-Based Learning, encouraging students to tackle real-world problems collaboratively. I also supervise bachelor’s and master’s theses, mentoring students in research areas like entrepreneurship, organizational behavior, and strategy and international business.

Collaboration with industry, authorities, and the public sector

I actively collaborate with stakeholders, municipalities, and public organizations like Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth (Tillväxtverket) and Migration Studies Delegation (DELMI). I participate in research projects, contributing to policies on immigrant entrepreneurship and labor market integration. My work extends to partnerships with industry, such as Siemens Energy and Startup Center (NyföretagarCentrum), focusing on innovation, diversity, and sustainable business development. These collaborations bridge academic research and practical application, fostering societal and organizational impact.
