Assistant Professor

I am part of a group of researchers who study and develop mathematical optimization models for brachytherapy, a form of radiotherapy.

The treatment is used to remove cancerous tumors, especially when treating prostate cancer. Mathematical models are used in some extent today, but the goal is to develop better models for clinical use. We also work towards a better understanding of existing models and what differentiates between manual planning and planning using optimization models.

The models we have developed can be useful in healthcare. Our goal is better cancer treatment outcomes, for example through a reduction in serious complications after radiation therapy.
