Lovisa Johansson

Lovisa Johansson is a PhD student in the Hallbeck lab working to elucidate the mechanisms underlying propagation of neurodegenerative disease proteins, with specific focus on Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.

Main research areas

In Lovisa's research, she investigates three key areas including:

* The role of the endocytic system in protein aggregation

* The role of exosomes/extracellular vesicles (EVs) in the cell-to-cell propagation of aggregates

* The utilisation of EVs for early Alzheimer's disease diagnosis

This work is critical in improving our understanding of processes involved in disease progress and will ultimately increase our chances of developing diagnostic and therapeutic targets for treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.
