Marcin Szczot

Associate Professor

In my research I currently plan to map the unexplored system of hundreds of millions of nerve cells in the human gastrointestinal tract. The aim of the research is to understand better how stomach pain arises.

The Szczot Lab

External stimuli in concert with internal state guide behaviors, moods and choices. Deciphering how sensory representation is altered by injury, might have major implications for the treatment of somatosensory dysfunctions like chronic pain.

Nearly SEK 43 million for research in medical and health sciences

Thirteen researchers at LiU have received grants totalling SEK 42.6 million. This is the result when the Swedish Research Council has awarded nearly SEK 1 billion in research grants for the medical and health sciences.
