Michael Sandborg

My research focuses on finding optimal X-ray imaging techniques in health care. We develop methods to measure patient doses and the quality of the radiographic images in collaboration with health care professionals.

Field of teaching

I teach medical radiation physics and radiological protection to medical- and biomedical engineering students at Linköping university and staff at Region Östergötland.

Optimal use of ionising radiation for diagnostic therapeutic purposes
My research interest focuses on optimisation of radiological examinations with respect to image quality and patient doses and quantitative computed tomography for more accurate radiotherapy treatment. We use the clinical X ray equipment at CMIV and at Region Östergötland. I supervise PhD students, medical physicists, biomedical engineers and radiology staff in their research and professional training.

Optimizing X-ray imaging procedures

Optimising medical x-ray examination aims to find the settings on the x-ray unit that minimises the patient exposure while maintaining sufficient image quality.

Quantitative computed tomography for more accurate radiotherapy

We are developing quantitative image reconstruction methods with dual-energy computed tomography to measure the atomic composition of patient organs before radio therapy.
