How can nurses help heart failure patients achieve a good quality of life? Self-care is essential for these patients. I am interested in using technology to support self-care for individuals living with heart failure.

Research

Self-Care Support for Patients with Chronic and Advanced Heart Failure

Heart failure (HF) is a globally prevalent and costly condition, characterized by a significant symptom burden and frequent hospital admissions. My research focuses on self-care for patients with chronic and advanced heart failure, including evaluating the effectiveness of self-care educational programs in hospital settings, exploring telemonitoring, and developing a self-care scale for patients following the implantation of a left ventricular assist device (LVAD).

Currently, I am leading two projects. The first involves managing heart failure using a new monitoring technology, Remote Dielectric Sensing (ReDS), within a primary care setting. The second project focuses on providing self-care support for patients with a left ventricular assist device.

Nursing Education

I teach in the Nursing program, primarily in semester 3. I also supervise student theses at both the undergraduate and advanced levels.

The Swedish Heart Lung Foundation has awarded 30 million to research projects at The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. These grants will support a variety of projects aimed at heart, vascular, and lung diseases.
