PATT 43, Pupils' Attitudes Towards Technology Conference, 2026, Norrköping, Sweden

The conference will take place from 15 to 18 June 2026 , with the theme "Technology Education Across Boundaries".

Since the 1980s, the PATT research conference brings together internationally renowned researchers in the field of technology education. In the summer of 2026 the conference will be held for the 43rd time, this time at the beautiful Campus Norrköping, a couple of hours south of Stockholm, Sweden. We heartily welcome you to listen to lectures, present papers, and network at a conference with both academic depth and a friendly atmosphere.

The conference fee for the whole conference including social event and conference dinner is SEK 4,900 plus taxes, for early-bird registration until 31 March 2026. From 1 April 2026 the full conference fee will be raised to SEK 5,900 plus taxes.

Conference Registration

The conference fee for the whole conference including social event and conference dinner is SEK 4,900 plus taxes, for early-bird registration until 31 March 2026. From 1 April 2026 the full conference fee will be raised to SEK 5,900 plus taxes. Please note that you pay the full conference fee regardless of how many days you will participate. The conference takes place at Campus Norrköping, Linköping University, so there will be no online/digital participation.

Call for Papers and Conference Proceedings

The PATT43 conference theme is Technology Education Across Boundaries, to signify not only the interdisciplinary, innovative, and boundary-crossing characteristics of technology education worldwide but also the broad array of cooperative opportunities that exist between technology and other subjects and subject areas in the school and teacher education.

Papers are invited to contribute to this overarching theme in a variety of ways, related but not limited to the following suggested topics:

  • technology education and STEM/STEAM;
  • technology education and sustainability;
  • technology education and social sciences;
  • technology and craft, maker or design education;
  • technology and vocational education;
  • technology education and digital tools (e.g. AI);
  • technology education for 21st-century readiness;
  • assessment in technology education;
  • technology and philosophy/history;
  • technology and gender, engagement and recruitment;
  • technology and engineering education; etc.

Abstracts

The PATT43 Norrköping editorial committee will review abstract submissions for the 2026 conference. The final deadline for submission of abstracts is 15 November 2025. Feedback on abstracts will be provided by 30 November 2025. Abstracts should be a maximum of 300 words. You have to download and use the PATT 43 Abstract template. Click on the following link to submit your abstract via the (the template can be found under About, Conference Proceedings Submissions). Submissions of abstracts will be handled via Linköping University’s OJS.

Research Papers

If your abstract is approved, the deadline for the submission of PATT43 full drafts of research papers is 25 January 2026, and feedback will be provided by two reviewers in a double-blind review process by 27 February 2026. Deadline for submission of the final version of the full research paper is 1 April 2026.

Full research papers should be a maximum of 3,000 words, excluding the title, authors, abstract, keywords and references (note: full papers should not exceed 4,000 words, including everything).

You have to download and use the PATT 43 Paper template. Click on the following link to submit your paper via the (the template can be found under About, Conference Proceedings Submissions). Submissions of full research papers will be carried out via Linköping University’s OJS, and each published paper will be assigned an individual DOI.

Poster Presentations

It is also possible to present a poster, which will be displayed part of the conference including a designated time for the presentation itself. Prepare your poster and send it in as a pdf to patt43@liu.se by 1 April. It will also be subject to peer review. Posters need to be designed and printed at one’s own expense and brought to the conference physically. The format should be A1 (or similar).

Welcome to Norrköping!

Norrköping - Sweden's Manchester

Welcome to Norrköping a medium sized Swedish city located 160 kilomtres south of Stockholm.

Situated on the banks of the Motala Str枚m river, the city has a long-standing history of textile manufacturing and used to be referred to as 'Sweden's Manchester'. The river winds its way through the city, inviting you to take a stroll and get enchanted by its power. Today, the old industrial buildings house museums, a concert hall, schools, offices and one of the campuses of Link枚ping University, Campus Norrk枚ping. One of the most significant of these buildings is Strykj盲rnet, or 'the iron'. This building houses the Museum of Work, and the conference dinner will be held in the restaurant on the top floor. Another old industrial building next to campus has been rebuilt to fit a big dome for the Visualization Centre C, where conference delegates will also spend one evening. There will also be an opportunity to learn more about this area during a social activity organised for the conference.

The conference will take place in June, which is summer in Sweden, so hopefully the city will be at its best. If you have the opportunity to stay in Sweden after the conference, you can experience Swedish Midsummer, which is celebrated on 19 June. Midsummer celebrations are held by associations and organisations in various locations all over Sweden. If you would like to spend a few days in Stockholm, we recommend the Midsummer celebrations at Skansen, a beautiful open-air museum.

Find your way

PATT43 will take place in Kåkenhus, Campus Norrköping, Linköping University. The entrance to the conference venue is located at Kungsgatan 40. Campus Norrköping - Linköping University.

From the central station, it is less than a 15-minute walk to Campus. You can also take bus 21 towards Söder tull.
