The Language and Culture research environment is a meeting place for linguistic and literary research in a cultural context.

Doctoral studies in language and culture are multi- and interdisciplinary. Our doctoral students have typically studied modern foreign languages, Swedish, Swedish as a second language, general linguistics or comparative literature.

The research environment Language and Culture was established in 2000. Nigel Musk, who left London for Sweden in his youth, has been a part of it from the beginning. Here, he reflects on the development of the environment and the challenges ahead.
