Behind the congress is ISPCAN, the International Society for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect, which is an interdisciplinary network for professionals who work with children who are harmed. The congress has not been organized in the Nordic countries since 2011 and Uppsala will be the first time ever in Sweden. The aim is to highlight current needs and solutions regarding violence against children in times of crisis and war.

The congress in Sweden is hosted by Barnafrid at Linköping University in collaboration with several Swedish actors, including Uppsala University. The congress will be held on August 18-22, 2024 at Uppsala Konsert & Kongress.

- We are really looking forward to arranging this and will effectively mobilize ourselves to focus on one of the most important issues in social welfare in our society from a broad perspective, says Laura Korhonen, head of the centre for Barnafrid and local host of the congress.

The content of the conference is already being planned.

- We have a lot of commitment and knowledge to share and will do our utmost to put together a topical and interesting program with an international touch. We also look forward to making new contacts and developing new collaborations through the conference," says Dr. Gabriel Otterman, Chair of the Congress Scientific Committee.
