Professor Ramesh Talreja is Tenneco Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Texas A&M University. He has published extensively in the field of damage mechanics and fatigue of composite materials.

Recently, Professor Talreja visited our Lab facilities and discussed possible ways of collaboration.

“The lab facilities you currently have are adequate for a basic education and research in composite materials. You have optical and scanning electron microscopy equipment as well as servo-hydraulic testing machines. You also have hand layup of prepregs and hot press to make composite laminates,” says Professor Talreja.

Regarding the main key factors that we should consider for building our composite group at Linköping University, Professor Talreja says: “You have a good combination of expertise at the university as well as at SAAB and RISE. Together you should build a composite research group with 3-5 masters and PhD students and 1-2 postdocs within the next two years. You should seek sponsorship for these researchers from the Swedish industry and have them involved in selection of projects and in guidance of the research. You should also try to join EU projects in collaboration with researchers from other European industry and academic organizations.”

The division of engineering materials is very honored by this visit and looking forward to continuing this fruitful collaboration.
