Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and biomedical optic systems are used for nueroguidance during brain tumor biopsies and resection. DBS implantation and for investigation of cerebral bleedings of neurointensive care patients.

Biomedical Optics studies the basic principles of interaction between light and biological tissues, cells and molecules and develops new technologies for use in basic research and clinical applications.

We develop methods and instrumentation that advance spectroscopy, light transport modeling, and imaging of tissue; creating quantitative, non-invasive tools for the clinical detection, monitoring or treatment of skin diseases and injuries.

We aim towards being the world leading group in the unravelling of systems-level mechanistic insights, using inter-connected M4 models for decision support in pharma and P4 medicine – thereby making a positive change in society.

A national centre for research, PhD studies and graduate studies within biomedical engineering, since 1972.

e-Health is one of five areas of strength at 91ÊÓƵ and Region Östergötland. The areas' mission is to conduct internationally outstanding research and to create an inclusive research environment with high scientific level.
